I'm going to do a long bike ride out in Townsend starting from Little River Road on Sunday, January 28th. Anyone who wants to come is welcome. I'm planning on riding about 65 miles or so, but you can ride as much or as little as you want. Once everyone is there we can group people together who want to ride the same distance. I'll be doing two climbs on the ride. First, from the Y up to Cades Cove. The second will be up Foothills Parkway. So there will be some undulating riding on River Road and some good climbing for strength building. My plan is to show up about 10:45 and be ready to start riding at 11. Total time for the whole ride will be around 4 hours 15 minutes. Make sure to bring all your cold weather riding clothes as it will probably be chilly. Also, bring whatever food and drinks you need for the ride. Bring money if you'll need to stop to buy drinks at a gas station. If you need a ride out to Townsend, just put a posting up and I'm sure we can get a ride out there for everyone. Or you can ride your bike out there if you want the extra miles!

If you're interested or have any questions, you can email me at sputnam@utk.edu or call me (865-924-8565).

It looks like my planned bike ride for Sunday in't going to happen. The high temp is supposed to only be 35, and I've come down sick. Hopefully I'll get over this quickly so I can get more bikes rides scheduled.
